Carla is more than a magazine.
It's a...
– Fixture of L.A.’s art ecosystem
– An active archive of our city's artists
– The connective tissue between artists, art workers, critics, curators, gallerists, and art-curious Angelenos
– And so much more!
In our magazine and through our events alike, Carla remains an artist-centered organization that critically covers our city’s artists and their work from a unique perspective, providing accessible entry-points into L.A.'s visual art community.
Carla is celebrating 10 years of impact in the L.A. community!
Founded in 2015, this year Carla officially turned 10 and also completed our first fiscal year as a nonprofit, and we are so proud of how our work as a publisher of art criticism (in a rapidly shrinking industry) has continued to both bolster and offer access points into the visual arts in L.A. We are on a mission to change the way art is written about, who does that writing, and who that writing reaches.
As a nonprofit, we rely on donations from individuals like you in order to sustain engagement with our community. Now more than ever, accessible and critical writing about art is essential, and your contribution is vital to centering artists and helping sustain Carla’s work as not only a magazine but an important community hub in the landscape. As we approach the end of the year, we invite you to support Carla’s mission with a gift.
Anyone who donates at least $15/mo or $160/year will automatically become a Club Carla member — learn more about membership below!
We need your help to reach our goal of raising $75,000 by 2026!

in style!

Shirts & Totes & Hats & More! Rocking our new merch is a great way to support our work in style.
To celebrate our ten-year milestone, we invited L.A.-based artists and designers from Carla’s extended community to reimagine the Carla logo. These interpretations were fused into a single, cohesive T-shirt and tote bag design, symbolizing the collective voices and creative minds that have shaped Carla over the past decade. The Ten Year Carla Tee and Tote marks this major moment in our history, encapsulating the spirit of collaboration at the heart of our ethos.
